![]() ![]() “ Common Side Effects” follows former high school lab partners Marshall and Frances who begin to unravel a conspiracy involving big pharma and the federal government to suppress knowledge of a rare mushroom that may hold the key to curing all the world’s diseases. “ Common Side Effects” was created by Joe Bennett and Steve Hely and is executive produced by “King of the Hill” creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels. The half-hour comedy series delves into the complex reactions to the revelation of the mysterious elixir of life. Aku gloat maybe and tell Jack that the lives of everyone in the future are on his hands? "Kill me and you kill thousands" etc That would've been interesting.Adult Swim has put into development an animated adaptation of the graphic novel Get Jiro! from Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose which follows a culture war in LA over food where chefs are seen almost like gods and Jiro is right smack dab in the middle of a tug-of-war battle between organic farmers and exotic foodies.Īdult Swim has greenlit “ Common Side Effects,” it was announced today at Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Realistically that was probably always going to happen but I'd have liked to see Jack think about it and what his actions will cause. Instead we just kinda? Barely saw him and oh no now Ashi can fix everything :D that's it everything is fixed. I have to say tho I did enjoy a bit of mopey aku, but I really wish his goofyness was more prevalent, if even darker than previously shown. The entirety of the show, aside from season 5 led me to belive even if Jack killed aku he would stay to protect the future, because he has abandoned going back so many times to save people who need help now. I was really let down by his appearances in season 5, and the last battle is just, not satisfying. Should've had more episodes, if not a whole season and definitely way more of aku. Would've preferred it to be a bit more drawn out. I can just imagine so many other directions it could have gone, especially with building up the suspense of fighting Aku for the final time.īut I feel they were pitching ashi to be like his student so the sudden and all encompassing romance was a bit much. ![]() Tying any show's ends together is a challenging process, and we got an ending season that had a lot of potential. It would have been interesting to see that sort of arc play out in the Samurai Jack universe with Ashi.īut then again, Gendy had a tight schedule during the production of Season 5. Think of how Zuko from Avatar went through a gradual, personal process of finding redemption. The romance could have been a slow-burn that gradually unfolded, instead of being such a central plot point that they staked the majority of the season around (which led to the overstuffed, rushed feel). It's fun to imagine a Season 5 with more extensive worldbuilding and fighting. But I feel like Season 5 devoted too much focus per episode to her and Jack's romance. Jack's romance allowed for a mature development of his character, and it helped him find new meaning in life. I honestly really appreciate that Jack got a love interest. It's starts on a very high note, but sadly ends on a low one. It feels like they tried to do too much in the final season, and it really could have benefited from one more (or atleast 5 more episodes). Honestly.I didn't feel anything within Ashi faded away. It happens so fast, and then we cut to the marriage scene. ![]() He really got the short end of the stick this final season. They spend so little time together in this season that it makes his death scene feel meh. You'd think after all those years of helping others, the final stand against Aku would be grand, but it again it felt like it was trying to wrap things up as fast as possible.Īku had just as much character development through the season as Jack. The romance between Jack and her feels rushed and unsatisfying as well.īut, what let me down the most was that final battle. Only two episodes, and she's already seen the light. Ashi feels so rushed in her character development. It starts off so good, but then it feels like the last two episodes were rushed out the door. So, I jumped back into the series for the first time since it's cancellation and wow.season 5 feels so unrewarding. ![]()
